The Southern Africa is great for camping!
There is a good infrastructure of campgrounds – often even with Pool and Restaurant.
There 1-2 RoRo ships per month from Europe to South Africa / Namibia. Schedule will be published around 2 months prior to departure. Sailing time is around 2 weeks to Namibia / 3 weeks to South Africa. The boats sail normally without a stop in Westafrika!
Possible arrival ports in South Africa are Durban and Port Elizabeth.
In Namibia the port is Walvis Bay.
In case the flight does not match the boats arrival the local forwarder can pickup the camper for you and park it in a storage.
Tourists are allowed to use their vehicle in Southern Africa without paying any import fees. A Carnet de Passage is required! This can be issued, for example, from your domestic automobile club. After the jounrey the refund the deposit back.
Mobile and smartphones work all over the countries. It makes sense to buy a local SIM card. Almost all campsites, fast food restaurants, etc. offer their customers free Wi-Fi.
Southern Africa offers an excellent infrastructure for traveling in a motorhome.
The supply of diesel is not a problem in Southern Africa & Namibia. AdBlue is available at some places. Fuel prices are about 30% less than in Central Europe. Motorhomes built in South Africa are based on the Mercedes Sprinter, Fiat Ducato & Iveco.
We can provide you with information for filling propane bottles and tanks. The voltage is the same as in Europe. Power plugs can be purchased in South Africa.

If the departure does not match to your flights the local forwarder can park it in a storgae and deliver the camper later into the port.
The freight costs are currently from US$ 92 /m³ from Durban to Europe. Durban is served by several shipping companies and therefore has more regular departure options.
From Namibia is currently no RORO return shipment to Europe possible.
